As one of the most private and exclusive residential communities in Los Cabos, Punta Ballena is known for having the most beautiful sense of arrival and a phenomenal variety of amenities. With more than two miles of walking paths, private tennis courts and an exclusive resident’s only beach club, Punta Ballena is the ultimate luxury living. Located east of Cabo San Lucas, the resort boasts a secluded feeling in spite of close proximity to the bustle of town. Views of Land’s End and the rugged coastline showcase some of the most dramatic ocean views in Baja.

The Punta Ballena site was dominated by native towering cardón cactus, the world’s tallest species of cactus, and winding ravines that separated the site into distinct parcels.  The Master Plan emphasized the ravines and used them to create natural buffers for each of the product types.  The Auberge Resort Hotel and Spa was sited in a natural cove of the property.  Building forms grew out of the cove to create dramatic views to the sea and shoreline.  Fifty-three exclusive “ocean view” home sites were located in areas with direct beach access. Building pads were sited on existing topographic features to minimize grading, provide a unique building site, and ensure each site had protected views of Land’s End, the lighthouse or the Sea of Cortez.  “Las Villas” sites were located on the sites highest ground with commanding views to the sea and surrounding areas.  Detailed alignment and grading studies were completed for the main road system to ensure the road was compatible with the topography and avoided disturbing the existing cardón cactus stands.  Conceptual landscape plans were prepared for the main resort entry, the major roads and entries into the Auberge Hotel, Las Residencias and Las Villas.
