A complex of buildings providing retail and commercial space in the desert community of Highland, California, the San Manuel Village project creates a series of exterior spaces, by integrating the buildings with the sloped terrain. Native and Mediterranean plantings soften the retaining walls that are woven into the project. Boulders, exposed during the construction process, were relocated to serve as feature elements that relate to the existing desert landscape.
